'Amrita talks little, but it's all relevant stuff'; Darshana Rajendran on his character in Parades

 

Actress Darshana says that Anushka, co-writer of Parades, gave a lot of impetus to the honest narration of Amrita's character. Darshana says that when he started playing the role of Amrita, he had a lot to offer. Amrita is a person who speaks very little. But at the same time, Darshana says that the character says what needs to be said openly and all the things said are relevant. In an interview with Q Studios, Darshan said that the film's co-writer, Anushka Senanayake, helped give Amrita's female perspective and the honesty that the character needed.

Darshana Rajendran said:

I don't know how to learn script. It becomes possible when you start doing it like this. That's why I didn't talk to Prasanna sir much. But when I started doing it, I had a lot to offer the character. Now that girl is writing a blog. No one around me sports it. Everyone is looking down on it. It doesn't matter if I object to it because the character Keshav has not grown to understand it. So I'm not making a problem or asking a question about why you don't support me there. He hasn't gotten to the point where he understands that this is important to me. I'm celebrating my interests by blogging my blog and not fighting there. Later she calls out from such a person. Amrita speaks very little. But talking is all about relevant things. One of her dialogues carries the weight of many things that have happened before. Those are the things I'm really excited about. Now, in every scene with Andrew, I want to show my Zed, and I always say it bluntly, but I keep a certain decency in it. Amrita is one such character, a sensitive character who questions whether everything she sees is true and tries to connect that question with herself. Moreover, Anushka is the co-writer of this film. So she has brought a lot to it from a woman's point of view. She could only be my age. But Anusha worked on this entire script to bring this one narrative to it. It was because Prasannasar insisted that the narrative be truthful. I feel that Anusha has given a lot of realism to the character of Amrita.

Parades is a film directed by Prasanna Vithanage starring Darshan Rajendran and Roshan Mathew in lead roles. After the films Family, Lalanna's Song and Kiss, the film produced by Newton Cinemas is presented by director Mani Ratnam's production house Madras Talkies. Parades, which won Kim Ji-seok the Best Picture Award at the Busan International Film Festival, will hit theaters on June 28.
