"Actor Siddique Chosen as New General Secretary of AMMA; Jagadish and R. Jayan Named Vice Presidents"

 At the recent annual general body meeting of AMMA (Association of Malayalam Movie Artists) held in Kochi, significant leadership changes were announced. Renowned actor Sidhique was elected as the new general secretary, succeeding Edavela Babu who had previously announced his resignation. This election followed a competitive process involving candidates such as Cuckoo Parameswaran and Unni Shivapal.

In addition to the appointment of Sidhique, veteran actor Mohanlal secured another term as the AMMA president, marking his third consecutive tenure. The meeting, which saw a total of 337 artists exercising their voting rights, also saw actors Jagadish and R Jayan being elected as vice presidents. The newly elected treasurer is Unni Mukundan, with Baburaj assuming the role of joint secretary.

Among the distinguished attendees was Union Minister and actor Suresh Gopi, who was honored by AMMA members for his recent electoral success. Despite the absence of actor Mammootty, who was overseas at the time, the event was a significant gathering for the Malayalam film industry. Suresh Gopi, in his address, highlighted the pivotal role played by AMMA in shaping his career as an artist.

The new executive team of AMMA reflects a diverse cross-section of talent within the industry, including actors such as Kalabhavan Shajon, Suraj Venjaramoodu, Joy Mathew, Suresh Krishna, Tiny Tom, Ananya, Vinu Mohan, Tovino Thomas, Sarayu Mohan, and Ansiba Hasan. Their election underscores AMMA's commitment to advancing the interests and welfare of Malayalam cinema artists, a mission that continues to resonate within the industry and beyond.
