Apart from Amitabh Bachchan and Kamal Haasan, the film also stars Deepika Padukone in the lead role. Reportedly, the pre-sale business has crossed Rs 100 crore. Director Nag Ashwin has stated that the theme of Kalki 2898 AD will be set during the epic epic Mahabharata. It was said that the ending will be in 2898 AD and the director Nag Ashwin Prabhas starrer has said that the story of the film will be spread over 6000 years.

Prabhas starrer Kalki 2898 AD is directed by nationally acclaimed Telugu director Nag Ashwin. While Deepika Padukone is the female lead, Prabhas' film also has Amitabh Bachchan in other lead roles along with lead actor Kamal Haasan. Dialogue writer Sai Madhav Bura had earlier clarified that Prabhas is not a time travel movie. Sabari is the PRO of the film which is directed by Nag Ashwin and scripted.
